Oaks Pioneer Church, originally St. John’s Episcopal Church, was built in 1851 and moved to the edge of Sellwood Park in 1961. It has been carefully and lovingly restored by the Sellwood-Moreland Improvement League and is now listed as a Portland Historical Landmark and in the National Register of Historic Places. Approximately 400 brides and grooms are currently married each year in the unique historic chapel, which seats about 75 people. The church and its park-like surroundings overlooking the Willamette also provide a beautiful backdrop for wedding photographs. The white chapel is a charming and romantic setting to begin your new life together with your loved one. During the ceremony, the beginning of your new life will be graced by sunlight shining through the stained glass windows of the church hall. You may wish to have your wedding reception in the SMILE Station, a unique and historic facility owned by the Sellwood Moreland Improvement League.
