Congratulations on your engagement!!
Built in 1852, the house sits on just under three acres and is surrounded by gardens and farm lands. Our gardens consist of heritage roses, perennial beds, and a large lawn with mature trees. Also included in the village is the Pioneer Mothers Memorial Cabin, an 1850’s one room schoolhouse, and the historic Butteville Jail. The grounds of the complex make a charming backdrop for weddings providing a wonderful step back in time.
The Newell House Museum has several unique collections of Oregon history artifacts, creating a wonderful atmosphere for your guests. Our collection includes the First Ladies of Oregon Gown collection, with the earliest gown dating back to 1851. Newell House has an extensive collection of quilts, needlework and other piece goods dating back to the 1700s. There are also many carding, spinning, and weaving tools on display from many original pioneer families. The museum is fortunate to have a significant collection of early basket, bead, and leather work from many northwest Native American Tribes, including many items once owned by the last full blood Native American Princess of Coos Bay.
The Newell Pioneer Village offers you the flexibility to create the wedding package that fits your specific wedding requests and needs, creating an event you and your guests will treasure for a lifetime! Wedding and receptions in the gardens are available for up to 200 guests. Small weddings inside the museums and Rebecca’s Tea Porch, overlooking Champoeg State Heritage area are available for up to 40 guests year-round.
