Hartford, CT 06105
In 1925, just five years after women were granted the right to vote, a group of 400 progressive and determined women committed their resources to form Hartford’s first private women’s city club. They bought the grand 1895 Theodore Lyman house at 22 Woodland Street, just around the corner from Mark Twain's home, and created an organized center for social, intellectual and artistic gatherings. The Ballroom, which has a superb floor for dancing, was added in 1930. Along with the rest of the house, the Ballroom offers premier space for sophisticated New England weddings. This 27-room mansion in Hartford's historic West End is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. First floor rooms of the house, each with Italian marble fireplace and magnificent woodwork, flow beautifully. The 1930 Ballroom was returned to Art Deco elegance with a top to bottom renovation in 2014. This lovely venue offers a variety of spaces to match the needs of your wedding, like the Ballroom, the Woodland Overlook, the Board Dining Room, and the Presidents Room. These classy areas are perfect for a beautiful, traditional wedding and offer a gorgeous bride’s room for preparations, furnished with vintage soft pink furniture and highlights.
