Historic Corolla Park, located in Corolla, North Carolina, is situated upon 39 acres of pristine sound front property and is the ideal setting for an outdoor wedding and reception on the Outer Banks. Whalehead, the 1920's historic mansion and winter residence of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Collins Knight Jr offers a beautiful backdrop bringing you back in time. It has been restored to its original grandeur, showcasing the elements of Art Nouveau style architecture. This historic waterfront park setting offers plush expansive lawns, 80 year old Live Oak trees, a boathouse and footbridge, which all come together to create one of the most breathtaking displays for your wedding. Your wedding album can include incredible photos with the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, gorgeous sunsets or the front porch of Whalehead which name just a few of the amazing shots possible. Whether you are having a large or small wedding, Whalehead offers something for everyone. The gazebo and the point are perfect for small, intimate ceremonies; yet, the point stretches out into the Currituck Sound and also offers generous space for larger wedding ceremonies.
New to Historic Corolla Park in 2017, the grounds now feature a public restroom and dressing room facility for your wedding party, making Whalehead the ideal place for any outdoor vintage venue.
Whalehead is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
