Located at 6 North Laurel Street in the heart of VCU’s Monroe Park campus, the newly-renamed Altria Theater, formerly The Mosque and Richmond's Landmark Theater, is one of the best-known and most striking buildings in Richmond. Opened in 1927 as an entertainment venue owned and operated by the ACCA Temple, the Altria Theater was designed by architects Marcellus Wright, Sr., Charles M. Robinson and Charles Custer Robinson. With state-of-the art in-house sound and acoustics, the latest lighting technology, more than 3,600 refurbished seats with cushioned backs, and two impressive digital marquees, any kind of wedding you host at this gorgeous theater will be a spectacular production to rival Broadway. Despite all the modern renovations, this theatre maintains its historic charm and character with its facade, historic tile work, floors, and fountain in the lobby fully restored and preserved. It overflows with 1920s charm and is perfect for a Gatsby theme wedding or a classic, simple wedding that will ooze Old Hollywood atmosphere just from being held at the Altria.
