With flowers in bloom at any time of year, and hidden in an urban setting, the Memory Garden is included in Secret Gardens of Monterey. Not far from Fisherman's Wharf, the garden was designed in 1927. The intimate outdoor venue is secluded by an 8-foot adobe wall with architecture that mimics the adjacent Pacific House Building, built to combine Mexican and Monterey styles. In the mid-1800s the space was used for bull and bear fights, but now gorgeous Magnolia trees dot the historic garden along with climbing roses, camellias and a wisteria tree providing warmth and beauty. A decorative, trickling fountain, 15-feet in diameter, serves as the serene centerpiece amidst the trellised walkways and stucco Andalusian arches.
