Standing as a living testament to the golden era of whaling, the Hadwen House & Garden offers a lovely historic setting for your big day. Nestled amongst the historic mansions of Nantucket’s Main Street, this Greek revival mansion built in 1846 has plenty to offer soon-to-be-wed couples! This home once belonged to local whaling merchant and silver retailer, William Hadwen. The home now serves as a beautifully decorated house museum with furniture that brings the eighteenth century into the 2000s.
Tucked away behind this prestigious home is a beautifully manicured garden. The Hadwen House & Garden is the perfect outdoor venue for elegant wedding ceremonies, garden parties, high-tea, dinners and picnics. Imagine saying your “I do’s” in the glorious house garden, sharing your first kiss as spouses, raised on stone steps and surrounded by lush emerald lawns and flourishing English-style gardens. Comfortable bench seating and unique sculptures peppered throughout the property provide an additional element of interest to this charming wedding venue. This beautifully fenced-in area is also ideal for outdoor seated and cocktail style receptions with the glorious mansion in the background.
